Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority was founded at Barnard College of Columbia University in NYC on October 24th, 1909. The Epsilon Beta Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Phi was originally founded at Brooklyn College on February 26th, 1954 and was re-charted in March of 1992. Alpha Epsilon Phi fosters friendship, sisterhood, diversity, strong academics, social involvement, and community service. Our two national philanthropies are Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation and Sharsheret Breast Cancer Organization. Our mascot is the giraffe and our colors are Kelly Green and White.

The largest fraternity at Brooklyn College, The Pi-Phi Chapter of Kappa Sigma was founded by over 25 friends and brothers at Brooklyn College, the City University of New York. The Pi-Phi Chapter was installed on October 30th, 2009, at the Brooklyn College Student Center. Pi-Phi is the 336th Chapter of Kappa Sigma to be installed in North America. Since then, Pi-Phi has been a team player in the Brooklyn College community, helping with food drives, fundraisers, and mentoring fellow students and elementary through high school-age children. Fraternally, Pi-Phi has also helped install other Kappa Sigma chapters, including Sacred Heart University (Pi-Omega), St. John’s University- Queens (Rho-Beta), Rutgers University (Gamma-Upsilon), Texas Women’s University (Rho-Gamma), St. John’s University- Staten Island (Rho-Sigma), Queens College (Rho-Tau) and University of Albany (Sigma-Pi)among others.

The Multicultural Awareness program, meant to educate people on the different cultures and promote understanding and tolerance of cultural differences. Students for Justice in Palestine (Brooklyn SJP) is a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and community members at Brooklyn College, organized on democratic principles to raise awareness about the human rights violations committed by Israel against the Palestinian people. And to build solidarity with the Palestinian Struggle for human rights, justice, liberation, self-determination and the right of return. We organize around the principles of the Palestinian Civil Society call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions of Israel. SJP believes that while the Palestinian people must ultimately be able to decide their future in Palestine, certain key principles, grounded in international law, human rights, and basic standards of justice, will be fundamental to a just resolution of the plight of the Palestinians. These include the full decolonization of all illegally held Palestinian lands; the end of the Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank; including East Jerusalem; the implementation of the right of return and repatriation for all Palestinian refugees to their original homes and properties; and an end to the Israeli system of Apartheid and discrimination against the indigenous Palestinian population. Just as SJP condemns the racism and discrimination underlying the policies and laws of the state of Israel, SJP rejects any form of hatred and discrimination against anyone. SJP is committed to confronting oppression in all its forms. Racism, Sexism, Patriarchy, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, Homophobia, Classism, Ableism and other forms of bigoted speech. talkPOPc is a multi-faceted project, which includes published philosophy, paintings/textual artworks, one-to-one philosophical conversations (in a special tent with our mascot puppet!), and a podcast. The project is a focus on the empathetic role of conversation, and how it is that we build thought both through art and through philosophy. The tent conversations become episodes on the podcast and, in addition, particular sentences and thoughts are extracted from the participants’ conversations and appear back into the artworks, (which are called Converse Thoughts), where they are seen in the form of slips of paper that can be unrolled and read. Philosophy becomes art, and art becomes philosophy.

The Brooklyn College Historical Society (BCHS) promotes the study of history and academia. We host events each month like speaker events with BC staff and outside guests, movie nights, trivia events, writing workshops, holiday parties, and just about anything you can think of. Previous speakers include city council members, representatives from the National Archives, the Institute for Children, Poverty, and Homelessness, as well as fellow Brooklyn College students like yourself! The BCHS also manages Clio: The Journal of the Brooklyn College Historical Society. Clio recognizes the exemplary research and writing completed by Brooklyn College students who have taken classes offered by or cross-listed by the History Department. History brings us together, but this organization is what you make it!
